Michelle Fairley will soon play another mother of a man fighting to be king. The actress, who starred as Catelyn Stark in the first three seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones, will appear as Margaret Beaufort, the mother of Henry Tudor and the woman behind his ascent to the throne, in Starz's The White Princess, the sequel series to the 2013 miniseries The White Queen. Newcomer Jodie Comer (Doctor Foster) will star as Princess Elizabeth of York.

An adaptation of Philippia Gregory’s best-selling novel of the same name and part of The Cousins’ War book series, the series is not a prequel despite its title. Set in 1485, it continues the story of England's War of the Roses from the female perspective and will cover the conclusion of the war and the rise of the House of Tudor via the marriage of Princess Elizabeth to King Henry Hudor. The daughter of the "White Queen," Elizabeth will soon become powerful in her own right—and it'll put her at odds with Margaret—but the arrival of a man claiming to be her long-lost brother Prince Richard will force her to choose between being a Tudor wife and a York princess in the fight for the crown. All the while, Fairley's Margaret will begin to slowly unravel as her influence over her son begins to diminish, and she has to face the sins of her past.

The eight-episode series is expected to debut in 2017.
